Terminal Operator – COMAH Certified & Valid FLT

Working in partnership with our international client, we are seeking a COMAH certified terminal operator to work on a full time, temporary basis with the potential to become permanent. Working with hazardous products and liquids the terminal operator is responsible for the safe collection and delivery of hazardous materials from silo to tanker using specialist equipment, weighbridges and Counter-balance FLT.

A Terminal Operator that is comfortable working in a highly automated and high volume shipping environment is required for bulk liquid storage facility based in Liverpool

Hourly rate: 9.17 per hour

Hours: 40 Hours per week, on a mixed day and night pattern.

  • Packaging Industry
  • Military – in particular RAF or Army fuels experience
  • Water Treatment Plant
  • Inspection Company
  • Storage Industry

Overview

Working as a Terminal Operator you will be based at a site that is responsible for receiving, handling, storing and exporting hazardous chemicals.

Duties

As the Terminal Operator your duties and responsibilities include:

  • Operate control systems and monitor storage tank levels
  • Monitor and control terminal operations for the site control room, ensuring all safety and environmental standards are maintained
  • Monitor all operational equipment and report any defects
  • Maintain site security and safety standards and report any deviations from these standards
  • Carry out, as part of a shift based operating team, routine operational activities and checks
  • Carry out routine equipment checks and report faults as required
  • Start/Stop pumps and open/close valves as required for product transfer
  • Monitor jetty operations when ship loading/offloading

Experience Required

As the Terminal Operator you will have the following skills/attributes:

  • COMAH certified – Essential
  • Experience of working with bulk chemicals and liquids
  • Sound use of IT
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good understanding of safety & environmental standards and their impact.
  • Team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions
  • Valid Counterbalance FLT Licence - Essential

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in chemical or oil processing and/or storage
  • Experience in a role which is significantly automated with the use of computer graphic driven system controls

The successful candidate will split their time between the control room and working outdoors.
